Photographer's Note
I find it amusing to discover some of my or my friends' photos being almost identical to those placed on covers of guides or maps. Sometimes it is just a coinsidence, sometimes (as it was with this photo) it is made intentionally. Practically the same picture can be seen on cover of Syria map published by some local company. I was using that map while travelling across Syria and once in Palmyra I could not resist a temptation to make a copy of it.

Hi Dimitry, this is so beautiful and exotic, syria, i would love to go there one time, i know and have read about palmyre, seems to be beautfiul.
Strange to use f5.6 but effective, the result with an original bokeh is well managed
Excellent :)

Hello Dmitry,

Hello Dmitry,
This is a spectacular photo -- a juxtaposition of Palmyra and the Crusader citadel on the the hilltop. In its topography this photo reminds me strongly of the old part of Ephesus (pre 440 BC) with also a Crusader castle on the hilltop. Beautifully composed, exquisitely exposed image. The bright sunlight on the columns in the foreground draw the eyes to these columns, whereas the citadel on the Acropolis represents a looming backdrop. Excellent work,
Regards from Virginia, USA.

Hi Dmitry!
This is really a nice perspective of Palmyra (really need to go there).I really like the way you captured the vertical lines of the columns. Good colours also!

Nice one Dmitry of this cultural and historical place. The best light having the pillars of the old building structure glow with the warm light. Tech well handled with the little dof for the background castle up there.

Hello Dmitry,
The photo style relates nicely to the historic city. The focus and less focused interplay and the soft morning haze giving some ambiuity and nice feeling of uncertainty of time.
The content: yes, you captured what most people photograph in this city. It is called "Long Street", which was the market area once upon a time. You will be surprised that around this area too, near temples and institutional constructs (i.e. government and institutional buildings), you can find a mix of statements or namings in Aramaic (the local language at the time), and Greek, the regional language, and possibly Roman.
Spasibo (for sharing) :)

This is a very good picture. I like the depth of field, with slightly blurred background. Colours and shadows are nice too. Thanks for sharing.
Greetings
Michal
