Photographer's Note

Every year, Muslims worldwide celebrate the birthday of Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him).
Muslim men and women should epitomize the example of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in their daily lives. Muslim women can celebrate the Prophet’s birthday by increasing dhikr and offering salutations upon the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
Celebrating the Prophet’s birthday is not an obligation. However, people have got used to expressing their love for the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) in a moderate way on his birthday.

When we were in Damascus the next day was the Prophet’s birthday. As the Umayyad's Mosque is the fourth in importance in Muslim world, the Mosque and the streets near it were very crowdy. The pilgrims came from many countries, all families were picniking in the courtyard and inside the mosque. Besides, it was raining. So, making photos was rather difficult. I liked more peaceful places, like this street in old Damascus.
