Photographer's Note

Aleppo citadel is a huge military construction in the centre of the city, dating back to Medieval times when it became a fortress, though the earliest remains of any construction come from the 10th centrury B.C.
Here's a photo of the interior of its gateway standing over a 22-metre moat. When you enter it, to get to the courtyard you have to turn left and right several times in a bending dark corridor. This is the best renovated part of the citadel, inside there are several interesting structures that are presently renovated as well and hopefully will be in a better state soon, but even now are worth seeing.
