Photographer's Note

Let me introduce you Alian, 7 years old and Harun, 30 years old, son of Suliman from the B'dul tribe. Suliman, his father is the owner of the key of the Aaron mountain mosoleum. Aaron was Moise's brother and was burried on a mountain not far from Petra which is considered as a holly place by the bedouin tribes around Petra.

We met Harun that day and he was a very polite and instructed bedouin who taught us many things about Petra and the places around. After a long moment together, he offered us to organize for my wife and I a camel ride up to the Aaron mountain few days later where we saw amazing landscape over Petra, the Israeli border and the Djebel Arabia with 1800m mountains and the desert in the background. We visited the little white mosque on the top of the Djebel, hosting the tomb of Aaron.

On the way back to Petra, we stopped in the tent where our guide was living with his wife, kids and his 93-years-old father who owned the key of the Aaron mausoleum. We had a tea with the family : not much discussion from our side apart from “Sala’am” and “Shoukran” but a lot of friendly smiles were exchanged and laugh burst when we saw the goats around trying to drink in our tea glass. We really enjoyed that moment.

It was a great journey with a different atmosphere and we spent a great day discovering new desert landscape. One of the best moment of our trip in Jordan.

Levels adjusted, USM applied.
