Photographer's Note

Before setting off on our camel trek, it was time for a cup of tea. I had several opportunities to observe that the preparation of tea is an important event when in the desert of Jordan, requiring collection of wood, the patience to get a good fire going and a calm, unrushed attitude. In addition to tea leaves, a large amount of sugar is added to the pot so that the finished product is thick and syrupy! These two chaps appeared to take their duties very seriously, and so I felt obliged to try the sweet result – not my usual cup of tea, but nevertheless refreshing in the heat.
