Photographer's Note
Another shot of the earthquake ravaged and abandoned Greco Roman city of Gadara, adjacent to Umm Qais. It was a well established town in the 3rd century BC. Atop the hill is a small onsite museum, formerly the residence of the Ottoman governor known as Beit Rousan ("Rousan House"), which was closed at the time of my visit.

Hello Chris,
There was not much remaining, but the pieces of columns lying on the ground indicate an ancient grandeur. Maybe this was a theater, judging from the steps. Or maybe just a staircase. It looks very destroyed and very abandoned, but the photo is well balanced and the colours are good.
Regards,
Gert

Bonsoir Chris,
Le cadrage serré met le site en évidence. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails des ruines de la ville gréco-romaine Gadara. La lumière donne de belles teintes aux couleurs de l'image. Bonne soirée.

Hi Chris
It doesn't look like they've gone for much reconstruction with all those pillars lying around - sometimes a good thing. A good view up the hill.
cheers

Hi Chris
Like your low angle sweeping up as the space you have given in the foreground really gives a sense of enormity. Nice compositional arrangement, the detailing is wonderful in natural colours and contrast to blue sky is just perfect. It's a fantastic piece of work on this wonderful subject matter. Congrats
Best regards

Hello Chris,
This must have been an impressive Roman city, with so much recognisable debris still in situ! Worked stone has always been there to be stolen from ruined sites and yet ...!
Your details are pin sharp, showing shapes and textures, with a polariser that has worked perfectly!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Chris,
It is strange how those broken columns in the foreground look a bit like wooden ones. Next to it we find some beautiful bas-reliefs.
At the top we notice stairs that make me think there was a small theater.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Chris,
very attractive composition. I like how everything is arranged in the frame. The fallen columns make a nice foreground. At the top we see interesting arched gateway while in between nice stairs which well lead the eye from one to another.
Fantastic well polarized sky on top.
Excellent capture,
M
