Photographer's Note

This was taken around midnight from one of the hills in Amman's city center, near the Citadel, pointing my camera to the north. The big flag (60x30m) is attached to the 126m high Raghadan Flagpole (3rd highest flagpole in the world).

The flagpole is about 1,5 km north of the Citadel, on the grounds of the royal court compound which serves as the residence of the royal family of Jordan. An even higher flagpole (130m) can be found in the south of the country in a little town on the Red Sea called Aqaba.

At night the city looks fantastic! Amman is build on several hills and all sand coloured houses are 2-4 stories high. City lightening, in-house lightening (no curtains!) and Mosque lightening make it a colourful sight.
