Photographer's Note

This is a great above and under water observation
platform in the Underwater Observatory Marine
Park in Eilat.

From above you have a wonderful overview of the Red
Sea and the coast of Jordan (in the back).
And you can go beneath the sea level and explore
the coral reef with its many different kinds
of fishes like in an aquarium.

"The Underwater Observatory is situated 6 meters below
sea level at the bottom of the White Tower which is
accessed through a 100 meter bridge. A tunnel joins
the two underwater halls, one of which observes the
surrounding corals in the underwater reef known as
the "Japanese Gardens" while the other gazes at
clambering corals and schools of fish, deep into the
sun dappled waters of the Red Sea. The visitor can
stand here for hours watching the scene which changes
from window to window, by day hour and by the seasons
of the year.

A living coral reef has been constructed around the
observatories and, since the Underwater Observatory
Marine Park does not feed the creatures in the wild,
this constructed reef provides a natural habitat
which attracts many different kinds of coral-nurtured
marine creatures - and the creatures which feed of

After a visit to the sea bed, the Tower Bar on the
entrance level offers a welcome break for coffee,
cake, pizza etc. For the adventurous, a 90 stair
climb provides access to the Lookout Terrace on the
top of the tower and its view of four countries."
