Photographer's Note

This beautiful plant, with small white flowers is a a White Squill. Itís Hebrew name is Hatzav.

In Israel, when the white Squill in itís blossom, it is the first sign of approaching autumn.

In my childhood I could find hundreds of them in wild fields, but lately this flower is quite rare due to growing of urban areas that are beating every piece of wild land.
I didnít see any of them since I was a child.

Thatís why I was so surprised yesterday, when I climbed a small hill in the heart of Tel Aviv metropolitan area, to find there a dozen of squill plants in their full blossom.

The plants waved in the wind, so I had to hold one of them in one hand in order to get a sharp macro shot, while my second hand holds the camera.

In the background, you can see the tallest building in Israel, Ramat Gan City Gate. In a macro shot, it had to be out of focus, but I still wanted it inside the frame in order to show the contrast between wild and urban areas.
