The White City (Hebrew: העיר הלבנה‎, Ha-Ir HaLevana) refers to a collection of over 4,000 Bauhaus or International style buildings built in Tel Aviv from the 1930s by German Jewish architects who immigrated to the British Mandate of Palestine after the rise of the Nazis. Tel Aviv has the largest number of buildings in this style of any city in the world. In 2003, UNESCO proclaimed Tel Aviv's White City a World Cultural Heritage site, as "an outstanding example of new town planning and architecture in the early 20th century." The citation recognized the unique adaptation of modern international architectural trends to the cultural, climatic, and local traditions of the city.

Hello, BG, I love this photo of the crowded houses of TAY, it absolutely fits to my theme Cell-to-cell cities. The yellow patch is the odd-one-out of the mass of white houses, sign of individual personality. Regards, Jalab

A very interesting view, Nana. Not just the yellow one (orange I'd say), there's also a pink one. And I was actually capturing the yellow one a few days ago, see WS. Anyway, the Bauhaus buildings are pretty scattered in the city, the only place I get the "White City" feeling is around Dizengoff square these days. Here I believe there are only two Bauhaus buildings in the frame.

Nice looking at Tel Aviv like that. Hard to believe the city looks this ugly from a higher pojnt of view. The orange house.. is this the Bialik home?

In did the yellow building contrast from the others, and all these buildings create a great graphic effect.
