Photographer's Note

During these Corona days, the majority of air traffic around the world is dominated by cargo freighter planes.

Just prior to the closure of the sky, as Israel was no exception, I took this picture of Atlas Boeing 747-400, registration N489MC. A cargo flight from Liege, Belgium, on landing path to runway 30 in Ben-Gurion airport, duration was 03h40m.
This specific plane is about 25 years at service, powered by four Pratt & Whitney PW4056 engines.

Picture was converted from RAW, F6.3, 1/800, ISO100, cropped all sides.

Hello Ike, Also Polish Airlines LOT serve as the cargo planes. Excellent horizontal composition, good sharpness with the moving object, nice white and blue colours with a bit of yellow.

Hello Ike,
An excellent and very clear photo of this cargo plane, which fit in really well into the composition. Fine light too and a nice background of blue sky and white clouds. The yellow parts on the plane's tail stand out nicely from the blue surroundings.

Hello Ike,
The very light clouds provide a fine background to the perfectly sharp view of the cargo plane on its way down. It looks like it was flying almost above your head. I live just below where the flights to Stockholm city airport are going down, so it is much more quiet here these days.

Hello Ike,

I was surprised to see this photograph but then you explained how it had been taken prior to lock down. WE certainly don't see many planes in the sky, at the moment, and how well Nature has responded to this lack of pollution! I wonder how well we will fare, post virus! Will air traffic be limited! Will there be mass plans to offset the carbon footprint! (I have been reading about excellent schemes, especially in Africa, where plans are implemented to compensate for carbon emissions.)

Anyway, back to your photograph, which is an excellent, sharp photograph of this cargo plane.
The pale, blue sky makes the perfect backcloth for this giant of the sky.

Ike, i didn t know that airline so far and i discover it through this photo. Nice view of the aircraft seen from below. It was taken before the lockdown, now the air traffic is limited due to the virus. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

Hi Ike,in fact i can see me too only cargo flights from Malpensa airport,in these days only 500 persons take a flight from there,while are 100.000 in the normal day. There are a lot of cargo of this company flights from Milano too as i can see watching flightradar website. A perfect capture very sharp and bright as usual.Have a nice week and thanks,Luciano

Hello Ike,
This afternoon I saw one plane landing during a bike ride east of Haarlem. Normally when we cycled there we see a long line of planes with a 4 to 5 minute gap before landing at Schiphol. So it has become a lot quieter and cleaner.

Hello Ike, a splendid close view of the cargo plane. You managed the light so well that the undercarriage is very clear to see.
In the present times when so few planes are in the air, the people who live near the flight paths will be getting used to the quiet, and maybe are not looking forward to when flights are back to normal.
An excellent shot with a lovely slightly cloudy sky.
