Discus-throwing has been depicted for centuries; it's a movement of rhythm, harmony and balance.

Even for this kind of recreational flying discs there are several possible throwing techniques. Maybe legs are involved too, like the slightly flexed knee of the guy in the shot.

All involve spinning the disc to give it gyroscopic stability, and accelerating its mass to a certain velocity.
