Photographer's Note
A full zoom view towards Gaza just across the border, from the top of the Camel-Hill (shown before).
A WS with a wider view, 2nd WS with the outskirts of Sderot town, just on the other side of the #34 road, to illustrate how the short distance is crucial when rockets shelling from Gaza can endanger Israeli population.
Rockets distance to Sderot: 4 ~5 km, to Tel-Aviv 60 ~ 65km/-, to Bee'r-Sheva 30~33 km. General location of the border is at 31.557, 34.534 on the map.
RAW, main picture is F9.0, 1/400, ISO100, CW.

Hello Ike,
I spent a few hours in Gaza and the nearest refugee camps, but I never saw the city from this angle. It looks nicer than I experienced it. These three photos are all interesting for showing the city's closeness to the border and populated Israeli areas. The main photo is well structured and the light is well handled.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Ike,
The distance between the hill and the city is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the fence and of the buildings in the background. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Ike,
Camel Hill offers an excellent viewpoint from which to obtain fine details of the surrounding area and the relatively short distance to Gaza. You have used the horizontal layers well to reveal the contrasting regions, creating a good sense of depth.
Is that a wire fence across the bottom, acting as a separation line?
Wouldn't life be happier and more secure if no-one fired rockets!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Ike,
If I am not mistaken, I was also able to go to Gaza during my 1979 journey. I have not been there. I did visit a few places on the West Bank and in the Sinai.
The contrast between life in Sderot and Gaza must be enormous.
What I didn't know is that Gaza is surrounded by a green belt of trees and fields. At least on this side. I suppose behind the houses we find the Mediterranean Sea.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Ike,
The viewpoint offered an excellent view of the border area and the city in the distance. I like the fine, natural colours of the green fields beyond the fence.

Hi Ike,
very interesting view and note. We take so many things for granted. Last week I didn't have gas and on one of the days also no water. The life suddenly became so complicated. At the same time you can have a walk in a park and take a photo of a place from which a rocket may actually reach you.
Nice panoramic view, very well done,
M

Hi Ike,

Hello Ike,
A good glimpse of the distant Gaza strip. The fg sand dunes around the fence remind us that this is an arid region and how precious water is in these parts. Superb sharpness and layering. Tfs!

Hi Ike
another very interesting viewpoint, something we havn't really seen much of before. As for the rockets and the never ending battles...well...we're not going to solve that today here on TE. That's another story for another day. A fine shot, hard to get it so clear with the heat in the air and the haze, but it came out very well. cheers
