Photographer's Note
A lookout point towards the northern Gaza strip, the city across the border at a distance of 4km+/-, which I will post some photos from there.
There is a monument on top of this Camel-Hill, or in its official name "Monument to Yaakov Gavri Nir Am" located on the outskirts of Sderot near Kibbutz Nir Am, overlooks the city up close.
(from the web)
Added a WS with the explanatory plaque about this area.
A white military observation balloon up on the sky, watching onto the Gaza northern area across the border, an area that is known for launching rockets towards Israel (will explain more about this in my next post).
Located at 31.5293, 34.5766 on the map, across the #34 road, a 600m climb from the nearby petrol station.
RAW, F9.0, 1/400, ISO100, CW.

Hello Ike,
It's a nice composition of a not so "nice" place, which I believe has not been shown here so often. The big tree provides shade and is a strong eye catcher for the photo. It's good to see someone, maybe two persons, standing there, but I had to look carefully to find the white balloon.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Ike,
it is incredible to think that this peaceful area may have something to do with the war.
Beautiful place with the two trees on top. The people there also provide more feeling for the scale.
I am looking forward to seeing the view from the top,
M

Hello Ike,
Your photograph looks very interesting as a thumbnail which gets better full size. The tree makes a good parasol for the building and the persons beneath it, whereas the steps make a good leadline.
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Hello Ike, The white dot was the first thing I have noticed and I wondered what it could be. Nice view of the hill with the trees providing some shadow. Good contrast with the blue sky. The stairs do not seem steep, so I am sure it was worth climbing to see the view. Very nice composition.
Best regards MAlgo

Hi Ike,
The distance to the tree is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the lookout point. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Ike,
The pale yellow green grass contrasts well with the blue sky. Good sharpness and only 2 trees atop the hill. I'm sure it gets very hot so any shade is welcome to guards that have to stand there for any length of time. Good sharpness and yes, the rock flour gives lakes in Upper Austria and Switzerland their turquoise colour. Canada and New Zealand too!

Hello Ike, this is a site that we do not often see, a very strategic place.
A good composition with the hill, a triangular shape, that leads our eyes to the summit with the tree.
The figures add to the scene.
Thank you for the w/s post with all the information.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Ike,
A nice view of this hill in a pleasant sunlight. I like the greenish tones contrasted with the light blue sky. The dark tones of the trees stand out very well, too.

Hello Ike,
I'm sorry to hear about the great tragedy that happened in your country.
The tree and the man atop the lookout point are nicely depicted as almost silhouettes.
I actually have no idea but it surprises me that military observations are made from a balloon. I would think this would be an easy target to shoot.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Ike,unfortunately these places exist, one of the symbols of an infinite war, one of the many in the world, on which I do not give judgments but which should end immediately and forever. Very interesting post, I hope that one day the lookout will be just a tourist stop without second functions, interesting the WS with the centenary history of the place. Have a nice SUnday and thanks,Luciano

Hello Ike!
An impressive silhouette - and an example for a type of observation and vigilance which does not help in cases like the disaster on Mount Meron.
My sympathies with the Israeli people!
We had a similar incident on Duisburg Love Parade in 2010. Only one entrance, two exits and more than 400.000 visitors on an unsuitable terrain lead to a mass panicking with 21 dead and almost 700 wounded.
The criminal process was ceased in 2020 without any verdict of guilty.

Hi Ike.
A magnificent view of this hill, which is its viewpoint at the top, should be a good observation point, the original effect of those two pines right at the top, in its shadow it is sure to be fine.
Good lighting, color and sharpness.
Enjoy a happy Sunday.
Very best regards.
Lis.

Hello Ike,
I just saw that there has been a cease fire agreement between Israel and Hamas. I am glad. Yeah, you'd better look very carefully out at Gaza.
I saw in the note for the workshop a reference to Tepe Kemal, which is Turkish for Hill Kemal. I wonder why it was called Tepe Kemal and not Kemal Tepe, which is the more usual way of naming places in Turkish.
Regards,
MT
