Photographer's Note
A manmade lake in the middle of the northern Negev desert, the Yeruham Park is just west of the town outskirts, general location at 30.988, 34.898 on the map.
The dam that created the lake was constructed in the late 1950s in order to utilize the floodwaters of Revivim creek for irrigation. Thereafter trees were planted mostly along its north-side banks, with picnic tables and overnight camping sites in the park.
Recommended season: All year round. Especially in the autumn, with the beautiful Yellow Crocus blooms in the Yeruham area.
(Info. from an official site).
Picture converted from RAW, main post is view due west, F8.0, 1/640, ISO100, spot.

Hello Ike,
The many cars seen in first WS reveal this is a popular place. Judging from the main photo it could be an undisturbed oasis far from civilization, although there is more water than I have seen in any desert. We get three interesting photos, and the main one has an attractive mixture of water, vegetation and dry sand and rocks.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Ike,
The length of the lake is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the trees and of the hills. The light is bringing out the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Ike,
I like the calm area in the bg with reflections. The breeze doesn't disturb the water surface here. Good colour, sharpness and framing. Looks like an ideal spot to camp for a few days. Tfs!

Hello Ike,
This is an interesting read, as well as photographs.
With your w/s, you have clearly revealed how well the greenery is flourishing around the man-made lake. It really is a lovely oasis in the desert.
I was interested to learn that crocuses flower in autumn. In the U.K., they flower in spring.
Kind regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Ike,
The lake surrounded by green vegetation looks really appealing and relaxing. The naked hill slopes make a good backdrop as well and their textures are clearly captured.

Hi Ike
A good desert lake photo. The vegetation does stretch far from the water.

Hello Ike, Nice view of the oasis in the desert, it doesn't look like the man-made artificial one. It looks like a quiet place, good for relaxing. The dune behind is quite impressive.
Strange that Yellow Crocus flowers in autumn, it is usually spring flower. Charming composition, there are also nice reflections.
Have a nice weekend

Uma beleza de lugar este. O contraste entre as águas, vegetação e o deserto em volta deu muita beleza e significado à composição. Dá uma sensação de quietude esta bela foto.

Hello Ike,
Your first photo in the WS shows how green this area has become.
I'm always amazed at the presence of water in a desert. I once saw a small oasis with a year round pond in the middle of a sandy desert in western China.
I understand that a dam has created the lake here. But from where comes the water of Revivim Creek? Is there a period of heavy rainfall in the Negev desert?
The slopes in the background give me the impression that a drop of water never falls.
BTW, were the frogs ever brought in from elsewhere? Or do they find their way to the lake by themselves. I apologise for the many questions.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Ike,
I like what you wrote: recommended season: all year round.
I suppose Israel resembles very much California and if the circumstances were different, I would consider moving there myself :)
Lovely desert oasis, very well done,

Hi Ike.
What a remarkable contrast, the artificial lake so pleasant with its shores full of vegetation and just behind some of the most arid hills, not a single blade of any plant can be seen, a crude desert ...
Sharpness, lighting, color, and the magnificent composition; they are managed to perfection
You have a good day. Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Ike,
What a difference this reservoir has made! Now where did the floodwater go before the dam was constructed?
