Hello Ike,
It is always interesting to see quarries after the stone has been taken out. The curved features of this one evidently worn by the weather would seem to indicate that is a very long time since it was worked. The pleasant lighting accentuates the sculptured look of the image. Agreeable colours and very good sharpness.

Hello Ike,
the lighting conditions were surely challenging, bright, strong sunshine and dense shadows. The lit areas look a little too bright but we can still study the fascinating shapes and textures of the old quarry. Each shape must be hiding a story, the site must have played an essential role in the masons' lives and was formed through the interaction of Nature and man. Your composition is well balanced and your point of view rewarding. Congratulations and thank you!
All the best, have a lovely weekend,
Ourania

Hello Ike,
This is an unusual ancient site.
It reminds me of the site found on Easter Island, where half chiselled statues were located, where they had been abandoned, in antiquity. Stonemasons must have been very skilled workmen.
The site is very interesting and the scene nicely balanced though the lighting conditions were very difficult, having such strong differences between the shaded and strongly sunlit areas. If you have PS or PSE, it is possible to select and tone down the slightly oe areas.
My ancestors must have been skilled in this way as my maiden name was 'Mason'!
Have a great w/e,
Bev :-)

Bonjour, cher Ike,
C'est amusant de constater que les prélèvements réalisés sur cette carrière forment par endroits des sculptures naturelles laissant au lecteur d'imaginer des formes de toutes sortes.
Amitiés.

Hello Ike,
It looks like Coolum Beach on the Sunshine Coast in Australia! Wonderful colors in the sunlit rocks eroded over time by both man and nature. The yellow cream tint contrasts superbly against the blue sky to give a great warm cold color contrast. Good sharpness & saturation with punchy light contrasts. Tfs!

p.s. 4000 ISO for my HKG airport photo is correct. Nikon D600 is full frame camera with very good results at high ISO ratings (even beyond 4000).

Those rocks does not look they are hard enough to use for constructions, but what do I know those ancient builders are far better considering their equipment and materials they used. Good pov and dof with nice details. Well done, tfs.
Watch for my next airplane post, I will dedicate it to you.

Hello Ike
Since the early days of humanity people managed to make shift with the underground, steeling natural treasures for profit.
Will those scavenges lead one day to the 'end of the world'?
Nice allover depiction.
Shalom.

Hi Ike,
I wouldn't be sometimes able to tell whether the sculpture is natural or man made.
Either way I really like strange rock formations and these here you captured at an amazing light as well.
Very well seen and photographed, this places seems to offer plenty of photo opportunities,
M
