Photographer's Note
Above the roofs of Old Tzfat, there is a magnificent view towards one of the highest summits in Israel: Mount Meron (In fluent Hebrew it pronounces Mei-ron) on the upper left side is 1208m above sea-level, part of the Upper-Galilie ridge. The view due north-west. The mountain is at 32.998, 35.412 on the map.
There are wide restorations works going on in the old houses of the ancient quarter, some houses were built as far back in time after the 1759 earthquake that left the city in ruins.
Approx. location from where taken: 32.97, 35.492 on the map.

Bonjour, cher Ike,
Cette vue par-dessus les toits (ou les terrasses, c'est selon) donne une vue bien différente. Le regard embrasse une vision historique et en même temps une vue sur l'horizon de toute beauté.
L'intérêt architectural est manifeste.
Amitiés.

Hi Ike
hahaha, if you want high elevations you should visit our mountains in Western Canada :) this one here at 1208m, I think I drive hills in Vancouver that high everyday in my car hahaha...but seriously - it just goes to show the different landscapes our 2 respective countries reside in.
Good to see restorations ongoing like this, it'd be great for you to follow up this photo with an exact same POV when its completed - if you can remember! cheers
Craig
I'll post a new photo soon

Hi Ike,
A superb high pov offering an expansive view across the bg forest to the wooded hills on the horizon. Good sharpness and the blue tarpaulins must provide some shade. Tfs!

Hello Ike,
The presence of a cement mixer is explained by your notes but I do like the close details of these old walls and houses ... they really look old and will have great character. The blue verandas add much to the colours of the f/g. Are they to protect the workers from the heat or just a natural sunshade for the residents?
You have angled the f/g buildings nicely, for composition and given a vast view across the landscape to Mount Meron. The slightly misty surround to the mountain adds even more to the sense of depth.
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Hello Ike,
There is a nice view towards the mountain and the sight is quite good i spite of the clouds and some haze. The old buildings provide a fine foreground and the blue tarpaulins are very eye-catching.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hi Ike,
The wideness of the area is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the houses and of the mountain. The good luminosity is enhanc ing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Ike,
A wonderful view of the landscape in the background with the mountain emerging from the haze in the distance. The combination with the old sunlit walls and bright blue covers is very strong and appealing. Great photo.

Hello Ike,
I like this combination of rather green countryside in the background with the portion of a typical Israeli town in the foreground. The textures of the buildings are lovely.

MT
PS. I just got to your critique of "The Keeping Room." We were quickly being escorted to the main hall of the concert, so i did not have time to fiddle with the settings of the camera. Auto setting resulted in high ISO.

Hello Ike,
All the houses in Tzfat seem to have a roof terrace.
With or without sun protection.
But I also discover one newer house with a tiled roof.
It must be pleasant to have a roof terrace and to be able to sit in open air without disturbing traffic or passersby.
From on the terraces people can also see very far and the mountain rises up quite abruptly in the landscape of rolling hills.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Ike,
nice the panoramic view of the place with the roofs of Old Tzfat to cover the foreground of the image. The threes on the scene, until eyes are losted on the backdrop, make the image even more attractive.

Hi Ike,
interesting composition, we see quite a messy foreground and a spectacular peaceful looking scenery behind. There is some sort of contrast between these two worlds. I wonder what is the view like from the last house facing the mountain.
Great reportage,

Ike, these houses in Tzfat are made in stone, their roofs represent a perfect viewpoint to gaze at the green valley as well as the Mt. Meron. The mountain appears majestically in the far bg. Gorgeous landscape photo. Fine colors, good image quality, instructive photo note, regards.
