Photographer's Note

The drive between Baghdad and the Kurdish north is spectacular. In the winter, the cold days provide both the greyest days as well as the bluest skies.

In the the way back to Baghdad from an installation in Sulaymainiyah, I captured these ruins while travelling in the car at 100KPH.

This was one of many images I captured in the foothills that lead the way into the mountainous Norther Kurdish territories - a new and brighter story unto itself. Amazing what the northern no-fly-zone produced!

I touched this up with contrast, otherwise this is what it looks like.

BTW-For my friends on TE - I am safe. Thank you. Things have been quiet for the time being and I will continue to take pics and post as often as I can. Thanks for your thoughts and prayers. -BE
