Photographer's Note

This is the Bas-relief of the King Darius the great
fighting the evil creature, copied from the bas-reliefs of Persepolis. The chimera apears here with the head and body of a lion, a bull's horn, neck, wings nad legs of an eagle and the tail of a scorpion.
This one is located in the Sepah Sq.( Toopkhaneh Sq. now called Imam Khomeini) near the city central market (Baazaar). It is placed in a marble pedestal that used to bear the statue of Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi till the revolution of 1979. A similar basrelief is on the opposite side of the pedestal. After the revolution, these markings were covered with the Photos of the Rovolutionery leaders but after some years they were re-exposed. Ruins of bullets that were shot during the revolution are still visible in some parts. If anyone has a photo from the Shah's era please send me.
