Photographer's Note

Guess why the man doesn't wear his shoes.
Teharn, a day of month of Muharram. Some people participate in street mourning and many come to watch. Yearly street mourning is hold for honoring Imam Hossein's martyrdam in shia countries.
Imam Hossein (the grandson of the prophet of Islam) and his family was killed in a battle against the caliph. That 1-day battle occured in a desert (now in Iraq) in 7th century. Imam Hossein is now a symbol of fight against oppression.
The young man not participated in formal mourning belives in his act. It may be a kind of sympathy with Imam Hossein (or his little girl).
"Sometims we don't know why we do it, but we know how to do it." a lover said.
