* Iran Flag

You can see it in TE's page about Iran Flag.
A stylized representation of the word Allah (GOD) in the shape of a tulip,a symbol of martyrdom in red is centered in the white band of the flag.
The shape of the emblem is chosen to remind a tulip,for the memory of the(young)people who died for Iran.
It is an ancient belief in Iran,dating back to mythology,that if a young soldier dies patriotically,a red tulip will grow on his grave.
In recent years it is considered as the symbol of
martyrdom.

* Name of Tulip

The scientific name for this group of bulbous plants is Tulipa and was assigned by the famous Swedish botanist Linnaeus in the mid 1700's.The name tulip is derived from the old Persian word toliban meaning turban,which is an apt term to describe the flower shape of certain tulips.

*History

Iran is the hub of tulips.According to geographical research,around 170 various types of tulip grow across Iran.Nonetheless,the Netherlands is
mainly known for its beautiful tulips.

Some researchers believe that tulip was taken from Iran to Constantinople by the envoy of the Roman Emperor Ferdinand I to Iran,who took the tulip grain to Vienna in 1554 and introduced the flower to Europeans.Since 19th century its cultivation started in the Netherlands.

And the shot:
It's not a studio work,without any PP,and perfectlly real,with a grey wall in far that was in shadow and 1/400 seconds sutter speed made it dark.

Without a note,the shot is suitable for TrekLens,but I think(and I hope) that with this note be useful for TE.

Thanks
M
