Photographer's Note

Archeological Park in Paphos.
One of the monument in this area are ruins of a medieval castle (fortress) called Saranta Kolones. The fortress was built in 7th century to protect the Paphos port from Arab invadors. The name refers to 40 columns on which it was built. The fortress had a three-metre thick wall with eight towers and a surrounding moat. In the distance you can see the church of Saints cosmas and Damian.
