Photographer's Note

Kolossi Castle is a former Crusader stronghold 14 kilometres (9 mi) west of the city of Limassol on the island of Cyprus. It held great strategic importance and contained facilities for the production of sugar, one of Cyprus's main exports in the Middle Ages. The original castle was possibly built in 1210 by the Frankish military, when the land of Kolossi was given by King Hugh III to the Knights of the Order of St John of Jerusalem (Hospitallers) (see also Commandaria), The present castle was built in 1454 by the Hospitallers. Dwellers in the castle include the Templars and the already mentioned Hospitallers.
The castle consists of a tower known as a keep with an attached rectangular enclosure or bailey about 30 by 40 metres (98 by 130 ft).

Hello Thanasis ,
This is a perfect presentation of this beautiful old tower . Effective framing . Strong light but very well managed . The green cactus an the flower on the right provide a good contrast to the walls .

Καλησπέρα Θάνο,
πολυ ενδιαφέρουσα και όμορφη αυτή η παρουσίαση του κάστρου που διατηρείται σε τόσο καλή κατάσταση μετά από τόσους αιώνες. Η ευκρίνεια των υφών και των λεπτομερειών είναι εξαιρετική. Μου αρέσει πολύ η διαχείριση του δυνατού φωτός και των αντιθέσεων, τα χρώματα είναι υπέροχα. Συγχαρητήρια και ευχαριστώ!

Hi Thanosis,
As mentioned above, the presentaiton of this could not be better, this picture literally jumps off the screen. The tower itself is illuminated so perfectly, but the real gem for me is that cactus. Its so vibrant and full of life, and adds so much to the whole scene. Really nicely seen, and presented.

Γειά σου Θάνο, όμορφη φωτογραφία απο το περίφημο Κολόσσι στην όμορφη Λεμεσό!Διαγράφεται εξαιρετικά η λεπτομέρεια τής χαρακτηριστικής αρχιτεκτονικής και τόσο ο κάκτος όσο και το λουλούδι με το γλυκό κόκκινο χρώμα δίνουν μια όμορφη φυσικη αντίθεση στήν πέτρα και στον καταγάλανο ουρανό!

Καλησπέρα Θανάση,
Το καλοκαίρι ήμουν στην Κύπρο αλλά δυστυχώς λόγο κάποιου σοβαρού προβλήματος υγείας δεν πρόλαβα να επισκεφτώ πολλά μερη της μόνο την Πάφο. Το κάστρο έιναι πολύ όμορφο και ο κάκτος μπροστά δημιουργεί ένα πολυ όμορφο σκηνικό. ώραίος ουρανός και γενικά όλη η σύνθεση είναι πολύ αρμονική.
