Photographer's Note
Another shot from my recent trip to London, and my second from the British Museum. Although I had seen numerous shots of the Great Hall, it was this particular point of view which I was most interested in getting.
Needless to say, the 17-40mm wide angle lens came in quite handy for this shot. I opted for a 1/6th of a second to capture a bit of people blur which wasn't easy considering I never had a tripod!
I hope you like it,
- Dan

Hi Dan.
The thumbnail made me think I was looking at an M C Escher, and I still do. Fantastic shot of this amazingly graphical spot in the museum. I really like the very light tones and the blurry people resulting from your slow exposure. Great work for a hand-held shot. A stunning image that uses the available light to great advantage. Well done.

Andrew

Splendid photo to enhance the arquitectural qualities of the place. What it´s important here are the volumes, the simmetry, the combination of classic and modern structures and, of course, the little people walking around. Very good one.

Great shot Dan! What makes this even more impressive is that you took it without a tripod. The motion blur of the moving people is really good too, giving the shot a little twist that makes it more interesting. The wide angle really does the job here, capturing the sense of space very well. Excellent work!

Hi Dan,
This has to be one of finer black and whites I've seen in a while. Your capture provides alot of information, very intricate details, and stunning contrasts and sharpness. Excellent work and TFS. Gerald

Nice shot - I like this geometric shapes, so regular and contrasting blurred human silhouettes. Good quality, too.

Hi Dan
Good shooting for a hand held shot. The use of the wideangle really accentuates the size of this place. I like the B&W presentation.

Hello Dan,
The wide lens was a very wise choice here; the image is full and takes in a all-encompassing scope of this remarkable building. The 1/6 second capture was a great choice, allowing for some selective motion blur to take place - a dramatic effect which breathes life into this scene. The symmetrical staircases are well chosen as the centerpiece of the photo, they look particularly good when viewed with the geometrical wonder of the ceiling above them. The black and white is well suited to interior shots, where artificial light can look a bit bland if left in colour. You present excellent sharpness and detail in this unique and inventive photograph.
Thanks for sharing,
Matt

Hey Dan,
I have a lot of catching up to do after abandoning TE for a while...I even posted today (after like...9 months)
Love all the museum shots but this is my fave...Capturing all that symmetry in your composition and the bustle of the patrons...
..really a striking photo.
Cheers
Mark
