Photographer's Note

Tate Gallery was the last museum in London that I visited. I liked it. It has an interesting display of English art and in the halls, the paintings are shown in chronological order.
Here in this photo is Mark Rothko's painting. I like the colours all around. But I must confess that Rothko is not my favorite artist. It multiplies his one main idea, only the colours are slightly changed.

Now from Wikipedia (who will read it? Haha)
Tate Britain, known from 1897 to 1932 as the National Gallery of British Art and from 1932 to 2000 as the Tate Gallery, is an art museum on Millbank in the City of Westminster in London, England. Tate Britain is the national gallery of British art from 1500 to the present day. As such, it is the most comprehensive collection of its kind in the world. It was opened in 1897. It houses a substantial collection of the art of the United Kingdom since Tudor times, and in particular has large holdings of the works of J. M. W. Turner, who bequeathed all his own collection to the nation. It is one of the largest museums in the country, ranked 52nd on the list of most-visited art museums in the world.

Mark Rothko was an American abstract painter of Latvian Jewish descent. He is best known for his color field paintings that depicted irregular and painterly rectangular regions of color, which he produced from 1949 to 1970. Mark Rothko was born in Daugavpils, Latvia (then in the Russian Empire). In an environment where Jews were often blamed for many of the evils that befell Russia, Rothko's early childhood was plagued by fear.
The family was highly educated and Rothko spoke Lithuanian Yiddish (Litvish), Hebrew, and Russian.

Hmmm, why are Rothko's paintings there when he was not British?

In Workshops, the view of the whole room with Rothko's paintings, and another scene from the gallery. Of course, I have MANY photos of various paintings.
