Photographer's Note
Hello Everyone,
The north wind will blow
And we will have snow ...
We had a surprising amount of snow for November. The roads were quickly covered and the trees took on that beautiful character, as they changed from dark to white.
From our windows, at times, it was difficult to see anything in the distance.
This is the view from my bedroom window as the snow was beginning to have its effect on the trees.
I will add a workshop to show the effect when the snow ceased for a few hours.
The stormy weather has had detrimental effects in different parts of the north. Some areas have been without power, due to the gale force winds bringing down power lines, whilst in our area, today, we have been without water. The sub zero temperatures have caused a leak, somewhere on the moors, which is proving difficult to find and mend.
I have been very inventive and have melted snow for necessary cups of tea!!
Hope you are all well, Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
The Photo Information says 'color', and I believe it is, but on cloudy days in winter the colours seem to disappear almost completely. There is a hint of colour on the building. We have no snow but the last few days have been slightly cold. Luckily not as cold as in the remote north, where –37,4 °C was recorded in one place yesterday, the coldest day in November for 40 years.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Beverley,
High winter hit your area, early this year, enable snowy pictures, but from the outside in the cold. B&W off-set harsh light, good decision.
Can't be envious - too cold for me...
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hello Beverley, it makes me shiver just looking at your shot.
The trees look lovely, not a leaf to be seen anywhere, winter has truly arrived in Trawden.
I like the w/s picture with the birds sitting up high.
I hope that the water problem is quickly resolved.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Bev,maybe you could have avoided the electric wire that disturbs the view, since in any case you went out to get the snow to make tea, however the photo gives the idea of the storm that hit your village yesterday, last year first snow I posted it at the beginning of December to everyone's surprise, this year you won the prize! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Beverley,
Winter is quite early (well, not really I guess, but compared to recent years it is). A beautiful view of the snowy trees, I really like how the snow covers the branches as well as the wire in the foreground.

Hello Bev,
Indeed winter is coming, I saw the "Match of the Day" on BBC TV with much snow, the lines were cleared of snow
Splendid panorama view to look at
An excellent composition, lovely white carpet.
Very well done, TFS.

Hello Beverley,
You seem to me to be in the middle of winter already.
The weather has changed so quickly and abruptly in Trawden.
I like the view of the black snow covered branches of the trees but I'm not exactly a fan of winter.
I don't dare to say it but I already want to dream of spring ... and it will still lasts so long.
Good that you care about the birds. They have a hard time in such days.
Best regards, Paul

HI Bev,
I saw on the news the bad weather in England. The point of view is showing the details of the trees covered with snow. It is a pathetic scene. Have a nice dya.

Hi Bev
There has been lots of photos in the news media about this latest storm. This is a good one with the snow laden branches and a glimpse of the house through the trees. And .. a good WS with the birds.
cheers
Ian

Hello Bev,
Even though the view is mostly the same every time, it's hard to resist taking photos of the falling snow outside my windows, and I like the scene you captured outside of yours. The bare tree branches look beautiful, and I can see the thick flakes hanging in the air. We haven't had any snow yet here in NYC, and the forecast seems relatively warm for the upcoming week. Take care and stay warm!

Hello Beverly,
A typical winter photo that would pass as B&W. Oh, isn't it fun to sit behind the window in your warm home and watch the snow come down, especially if you are not in a hurry to go anywhere?
Regards,
MT
