Stretching after winter sleep, a photo from Durham, England

Photographer's Note

I have previously showed a lovely mansion called “The Castle” and St James Church in the village called Castle Eden. More interesting than the previous two subjects are great nature hikes in the area, which is protected as the Castle Eden Dene National Nature Reserve. As beautiful as it is, it is quite a challenge to show it in all its splendour. This picture is just a simple snapshot, an excuse to mention this place and put it on the TrekEarth map.

Hello Mariuaz,

It's a fine record of the English countryside in spring, showing the rich diversity of colours and textures.
The trees make a good angled line, separating the red leaf carpet from the green hues of the hills.
Again, you had a beautiful day for your photography.

The blue sky really helped with this image I feel. I accentuates the branches of the trees that almost seem alive. Not bad for snap as you describe.

Colors of this spot in the forest were first to notice when opened the thumbnail, Mariusz.

A lovely walk through the woods Mariusz.
The brown dried leaves from last year on the ground, now the promise of fresh green buds on the trees.
The sunshine illuminates all the natural colours.
