A Regatta to Remember, a photo from Glasgow, Scotland

Photographer's Note

Hello Everyone,

Yesterday, I showed a photograph of Bells Bridge, over the River Clyde. This photograph was taken a little later, on the same day.

We had gone to Glasgow to enjoy the Commonwealth Games, which were taking place in the city and it was a great experience.

To coincide with the games, the city had arranged a regatta up the river, too, where boats from all over the world sailed up the Clyde!

The weather was not the best for such an occasion but it didn't seem to matter, the boats looked spectacular and there were huge crowds to cheer them on.

This is a remarkably lively photo, packed with enjoyable details. Everywhere I look there are boats, masts, flags and people. It was obviously a fairly dull day, but the many colours make it look bright.

Hello Beverley, we see plenty of pictures of yachts and boats on TE, but this scene goes beyond the normal. The flags and pennants set the scene, such a colourful sight.
It certainly looks like the ‘Regatta to remember’ as your title says.

I've never seen a sailboat that had so many flags. I admit that I've never experienced a regatta either.
You found a very good point of view to present us a great overview of the many boats with a sea of masts and flags.

Would you call this collection of yachts a "clutter of yachts"? I can't see an Australian flag but there's a fair chance that of there being one somewhere. Great in the large version.

Hello Bev, When we look at this picture in a large format, the number of details is overwhelming - the flags, people, boats, all with awesome sharpness. Fantastic event, a heaven for the photographers. With all of this happens, the blue sky would be too much, Perfect composition.

wow this is so colorful! The weather was clearly not on your side but the colors are still getting through and the result is quite eye catching.
The flags make a huge difference but even the alignment of the boats is photogenic itself.

Formidable image with all these boats decked out for the regatta, it makes it very nice how their masts look with all those banners, the sailboat that we see in the WS is a marvel and seen like that only with the river and landscape it is great.
Good perspective of the image, very pleasing to the eye.
Colorful, sharpness and luminosity are captured effectively.
Very good composition, magnificent presentation.
