ROMANCING BUMBLE BEES.......

"In the Spring a young man's fancy lightly turns to thoughts of love." Yes, indeed, Alfred Lord Tennyson may well have penned those famous romantic words, but imagine my profound horror when I came across this romantic couple in OUR garden this afternoon!

Thankfully they didn't appear at all distracted by my presence - and didn't seem to be in too much of a hurry either. So I had plenty time to fetch my camera and my macro lens and take a few shots, even if I did feel like a prying paparazzo at the time. Then, after a few minutes, they flew off together.

I believe, from their brown/ginger colouration, that these bumble bees were of the species "Bombus Pascuorum" or "Common Carder Bee" which are quite common in the U.K. But experts might know better.

ISO 3200, 1/80 sc at f/10, focal length 100mm.
