hello...rnrnVisit the magnificent Kelso Abbey in the Scottish Borders, dating as far back as the 12th century.rnrnKelso Abbey was built in 1128 and in the years following, it was one of the finest examples of Romanesque architecture.rnrnFinally finished, it was dedicated to the Blessed Virgin and St John in 1243. It was soon one of the largest and richest in Scotland, having a superb library in medieval times. In the 12th and 13th centuries, the Abbot of Kelso was granted the right to wear a mitre, which gave him precedence higher than any other Scottish abbot. The abbey's wealth came from its vast lands, its churches, schools, farms and its granges in the Cheviot Hills.

Hello Dale,
Typical roof-less abbey, as we saw many places throughout England.
Here I can imagine the towers, 4 cylindrical turrets that endured time, marvelous tall arches and the tomb-stones as silent evidence to passing times.

You present us the ruin of the abbey from an excellent angle nicely including the graveyard in the foreground.
The sun was in a good position and the different shadows give some contrast.

Hello Dale,

Good choice of a vertical fram with excellent repetition of the fg tombstones which also provide depth and layering to the composition. Nice sharpness and the sidelight from the left adds relief. Tfs!
