Photographer's Note

Although street entertainers like this are commonplace in Edinburgh's High Street at the time of the Edinburgh Festival in August, they were relatively few when we had a little TE meeting in the city just over a week ago.

Dressed as though at a masquerade, this "living statue" was moving slowly and gracefully around, unlike the rather "spooky" human statues who stand motionless for hours and threaten to pounce at onlookers unexpectedly at any moment. I liked the soft colours of her clothing which stood out nicely against the dark walls of St. Giles' Cathedral behind her. And, of course, the inevitable pot inviting donations - and why not toss in a few coins if you're going to get a photograph? I did.

ISO 320, 1/200 sec at f/8, focal length 52mm.
