Photographer's Note

The Hermitage, Chester.
This medieval hermitage lies on its boss of red sandstone down by the River Dee. It is used as a private residence.
The ruined church to which it belonged (St. John's) lies just up hill.
The tower of that church was used to mount a cannon during the English Civil War, and the Great Siege of Chester.
