Photographer's Note

This shot was taken from the P.Y.G track-one of the six paths up Snowdon. The name comes from Pen-y-Gwryd which is the name of the area at the start of the path at the top of Pen y Pass in Llanberis. Snowdon is the name of the highest mountain in England and Wales at 3560ft 1085mts.Yr Wyddfa as it is called in Welsh is the most visited peak in the country due to the fact that it has its own railway which runs all the way up to the summit. The lake is called Glaslyn (the Blue Lake)beacause of its colour due mainly to the copper ore contained in the rocks.Copper mining was once very prolific on the mountain.
