Photographer's Note

What a beautiful day we have had here in Central Scotland today: beautiful, almost unbroken, sunshine, no rain and barely any wind. Roads are clear for driving but a couple of inches of snow still cling to the hills and fields.

Another picture of one of my favourite subjects - Tinto Hill, the highest hill in Lanarkshire at 2,320 feet, this time taken from the north-west very near the little village of Carmichael.

This is the first picture I have posted here that has been taken using my newly-acquired 70-200mm zoom lens - a wonderful Christmas present from my partner!

Shot in RAW using a circular polariser and converted and edited in PSE6.

Wonderful photo here of Tinto Hill. Your right it was a beautiful day today and you've really captured it here in your photo. Crystal clear, great POV with the road on your right winding into the picture.

Ahh very nice Christmas present John, I'm sure you'll be uploading many photos with the new zoom lens.

Hello John,
Good pov to show broad lanscape in perspective effect, eating sheeps add relaxing and peaceful feel, I wonder these sheeps still able to find grasses on the snowy land, beautiful natural scenery, distinct image, good shoot.

I like your descriptive note, it makes a great difference. Nice Christmas Present! Good use of your new lens. Like the wall/road leading line followed by the trees to the smooth hill. The sheep bring your eye back to the bottom and the viewer continues to search for more elements. You've captured a nice scene with good photograph elements of composition.

Hi John, a beautiful day and a very beautiful picture too!
Lovely tones and nicely composed. I particularly like the radial lines created by the wall, fence and telegraph poles.
