Photographer's Note

Start of a new series of images today entitled Transience'.....

I live on an Island, a not a very big one at that. But like everywhere else on this planet, we have a sunrise and a sunset; an east and a west.

Even in a small place it's easy to forget that where you are, the light may be completely different a few miles away - you just have to go looking for it.

These images, starting today, represent the transient nature of light. How an unpromising start can lead to the most amazing sights. It's just a matter of timing. Any images I upload under the 'transience' name have been shot at the same location, on the same day, 18th August 2006. The only thing that changes is the minutes of the day, the composition and the lens.

This shot was a 5 second exposure at f/22. An ND Grad was used.

This shot is pretty much as seen. The complete post processing workflow is as follows:

Openned in Photoshop
PT Lens filter to remove barrel distortion
Levels tightenned.
Shadow/Highlight adjustment
Clone sensor dust in sky
Crop slightly
Add frame

Thanks for visiting and critiques are most welcome

Enjoy your weekend
