Photographer's Note

Dufftown produces more malt whisky than any other town in Scotland and so it is called Malt Whisky Capital of Scotland. The town is on the very famous Malt Whisky Trail that links most famous distilleries of Speyside. There used to be 9 distilleries in Dufftown ! Today "only" 6 work : Mortlach (original name of the town in Middle Age), Balvenie, Glendullan, Dufftown, Kininvie and the most known, the one you can see on the photo, Glenfiddich. It works 7 days a week, 24 hours a day, it's the biggest malt whisky exporter of Scotland. It was founded by William Grant in 1887 and is one of the very few still managed by founder heirs while a lot of distilleries today belong to multinational companies. The distillery plans guided tours (many languages), you can visit the factory and discover how whisky is built. No need to specify that the tour ends with a tasting !
