Photographer's Note

Some trivia about the Balmoral Hotel(the building on the left with the clock tower): In his 2005 book Espresso Tales, Alexander McCall Smith says that the Balmoral Hotel was once called the North British hotel, and that people over 40 in Edinburgh know it as the NB. The taxicab driver's guide to Edinburgh says that the clocks on the tower are set three minutes fast so people won't be late for their trains. (The train station is below the bridge in the middle of the photo.) And, as every Harry Potter fan knows, a note was scribbled in black marker on the back of a marble bust in the Balmoral Hotel. It read: “JK Rowling finished writing Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows in this room (652) on 11th Jan 2007.”

A sunny clear day in Edinburgh. photo taken at 8:30 in the evening looking east. This is an attempt to improve on a photo I took and posted about a month ago in the same spot.
