Photographer's Note

Edinburgh castle is one of the most evocative sight of Scotland. It dominates all the city centre and can be seen from miles around.
The rock it's built on provided a naturally easily defensible position and is certainly the reason that Edinburgh exists.
Many armies try to breach its wall and, despite its position, the castle often changed hands between the Scots and Englishmen.
This photo reminds the role of the castle was not only to prevent any incursion in Scotland but also to look after Edinburgh citizens.
