Photographer's Note

I had recently the pleasure to visit Edinburgh. As a postcard lover I just had to take a photo from Calton Hill, one of the best POVs in Edinburgh (this photo). I cannot complain about the weather. We had a pleasant first day with plenty of sun, warm temperatures and little wind. The sky was may be a bit too boring, hence relatively heavy post-processing here. Of course, blue hour would be perfect from this hill but the days are so long now especially up in the north that it was a bit too much waiting for me, plus the weather got much worse in the evening.

Far in the left on top of the hill you can see huge Edinburgh Castle. It is much more impressive when you walk its multiple terraces than you may expect watching it from here. The characteristic tower in the very centre belongs to Balmoral Hotel and the structure in the foreground is Dugald Stewart Monument. Crane is an extra bonus ;)

This is my 500th post on TrekEarth. I am still a big fan of this site. I like the motto: LEARNING ABOUT THE WORLD THROUGH PHOTOGRAPHY. But the main advantage of TE are amazing members from all around the world, although sadly so many have left already. I like very much the map of the world but also maps of countries with regions. No other site has developed it to such detail. However I wish the world map could be a bit bigger. And speaking of the maps with this upload I am painting in orange one more county of United Kingdom on my TE map. Thank you everyone for a great time we have together!
