Photographer's Note

The statue in the foreground is that of Allan Ramsay located in Princes Street Gardens.
Allan Ramsay, who almost single-handedly revived Scottish literature after a long period in hibernation. Without him, there might never have been a Robert Fergusson or Robert Burns. His statue deservedly takes pride of place in the city, occupying a position mid-way along its main thoroughfare. In the background you can see Edinburgh Castle. Edinburgh Castle is a historic fortress which dominates the skyline of the city of Edinburgh, Scotland from its position on the Castle Rock.
