Photographer's Note

The falls at East Linton, the river had been very high but is gradually falling now. Linton means Linn Town or the Village of the Waterfall.

This is the top of falls with the spray making superb patterns and mist. I've seen all sorts of wildlife here as well, cormorants, heron, kingfisher, dippers and wagtails amongst them.

The channel was made in the 18th century, by blowing up the rocks, to let the salmon up.

Ian Rankin, the author of the books about Detective Rebus, wrote one called "The Falls", my suspicion is he must have visited here - it's only 20 miles from his home in Edinburgh.
