Photographer's Note

For some reason, the young King penguins wanted to be on the river banks, while the adults did not. Maybe with the sunny day they were getting too warm with thier wooly coats, which would be moulted over the next month or two.

Young King penguins have brown wooly coats that are moulted when they are around 1 year old, revealing the distinct black, white and yellow coats of the adults.
