Photographer's Note

Standing on top of the basalts columns a tourist watches the sun go down as the atlantic waves crash into the volcanic rocks around him. Under these conditions the giant causeway really is a special place and one of the must see of the natural world. In the 18th century The Giants Causeway was described as ‘The Eighth Wonder Of The World’. The area consists of an estimated 40,000 hexagonal basalt columns, which were formed during a volcano eruption 60 million years ago.
