Photographer's Note

January 2008 was a wet month in the UK - and when it wasn't wet it was dull. Not the best of weather for landscape photographers. However, I set a theme for myself of 'Reflections' and ventured out on a cold grey afternoon. I headed for some brooks near Pulborough in West Sussex, which I knew were prone to flooding. I was not wrong and, with wellies on and a fear of dropping my camera, I waded into the water as far as I could go and took various shots in the fading light.

This image was one of two I was pleased with and, because of the lack of colour, turned it into black and white. I increased the contrast to try and boost the long lines and reflections of the trees, which looked eerie in the still water. I feel the grass in the foreground adds a different element and helps lead the eye into the picture.

Let me know what you think - all comments welcome.
