Hello Brian,
A beautiful image with a touch of the romantic about it. Very well framed with the frost covered fence giving the image depth and well juxtapositioned with the rising sun. The lovely misty atmosphere is beautifully rendered with subtle tones. The sort of scene Turner would have loved to paint.

I think we've seen some other pictures of yours taken at this bridge and at a similar time of year and time of day too. I certainly recognise the vista as well as that frosted fence.

If ever a photograph made me shiver and feel chilled to the bone, this one does! The feeble rising sun is struggling to peer through the thick frozen mist on the water and the frosted bridge, the fence and the fields and distant bank add to feeling of bitter cold.

Gorgeous colours, lovely contre jour lighting, perfect exposure and your usual exquisite sharpness.

P.S. How on earth did you manage this one without a tripod? I presume that you didn't use one because this picture was taken more than three years ago and I don't think you used one very much at that time.

And, just to be a little bit of a nick-picker, do you think there is a slight tilt "uphill" to the right (i.e. could it take just a tad of clockwise rotation)? Or is it me? Perhaps the mist covering the horizon at far right and the bridge at far left just tend to give me that impression?

This is such a soft, romantic image. We usually see quite strong, daylight colours and pin-sharp lines, so this photo is a real contrast, although just as beautiful and appealing. The perspective created by the fence is a masterstroke but my favourite element is the golden/silver reflections on the river. This photo makes me just sit and sigh with happiness. Thanks for sharing it.

Good Morning Brian,

I think we have seen this bridge before so this is a little deja vue, also with reference to the cold, the frost, the chill. We hardly seem to have said goodbye to the cold before we are experiencing it again. You know we have already had a frost ... in August!
I do like you viewpoint which makes the frost patterned fence a inspiring lead from the f/g to a strong disappearing point. It links the bottom corner with the b/g of river, hoar frost bushes and watery sun. All the colours shout CHILL!

in this capture we can feel the cold atmosphere of one winter day in this frosted landscape of the river, under the weak light of the sunrise.
The perspective of the wooden footbridge provides an elegant depth to the image, and the mist adds a humid and mysterious touch to your composition. It is a beautiful photo.
