Wakehurst Falls, a photo from West Sussex, England

Photographer's Note

Taken at Wakehurst Place which was leased by the Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew in 1965 from the National Trust.

It is situated in an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty' on the High Weald of Sussex, its higher rainfall, more moisture retentive soils and range of microclimates complement the conditions at Kew and allow the plant collections to be greatly enhanced.

This was my first time here and I was impressed but will need further visits to see it all. I'll also try to time my visit to be after heavy rainfall which will make this fall an even more impressive sight.

As well as a polariser, I used two 3 stop ND filters to obtain an exposure of 10 seconds at f/18.

Hi Robin, Again I look in delight, beauty through-out, excellent colour, sharp detail, crystal clear light &, your capture of the falls is magnificent, if I manage to take a shot of a water fall half as good as this I will be happy, kind regards Wilson.

Very nice long exposure shot.
The saturated colors are very nice.

I have the impression that the verical falls are not vertical.

Hi Robin,
Very well composed shot. I like the placement of the waterfalls in relation to the ferns. The viewers eye moves nicely through the scene. Supurb color and sharpness.
