Photographer's Note
I continue trawling through my archives with a series of pictures this time from the small town of Southwold in Suffolk, United Kingdom.
Some words about the town from Wikipedia:
Southwold is a small town on the English North Sea coast in the Waveney district of Suffolk. It lies at the mouth of the River Blyth within the Suffolk Coast and Heaths Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. The town is about 11 miles (18 km) south of Lowestoft, 29 miles (47 kilometres) north-east of Ipswich and 97 miles (156 kilometres). The "All Usual Residents" 2011 Census figure gives a total of 1,098 persons for the town.
Southwold was mentioned in Domesday Book (1086) as a fishing port, and after the "capricious River Blyth withdrew from Dunwich in 1328, bringing trade to Southwold in the 15th century", it received its town charter from Henry VII in 1489. Over the following centuries, however, a shingle bar built up across the harbour mouth, preventing the town from becoming a major Early Modern port.

Hi Stephen
I wonder what happened to all the deck planks? Were they destroyed in a storm or used for a beach bonfire at night? Anyway, good color contrasts, perspective & sharpness. Tfs!

Hello Stephen,
I really like this!
The ruined jetty makes a superb feature that guides, provides a sense of perspective and delivers excellent textures and colours. The green mould and the rusty screws are classic!
The light and the sense of depth have been very well handled.
Have a good day,
Bev :-)

Bonjour, cher Stephen,
Je suppose qu'il s'agit d'un ancien ponton ayant rendu l'âme par le flot des vagues rageuses venant se jeter avec force contre cette avancée !
L'image est très belle avec une superbe lumière.
Amitiés.

Hi Stephen
An appropriate vertical format and I like the peaceful mood you have captured with excellent leading lines and the connection of the wooden jetty between water and sky makes for a very interesting visual. Excellent capture, Congrats

Hi Stephen,
The distance between the structure and the horizon is creating depth. The point of view is showing the details of the wooden structure. You have captured well the power of the waves. Have a nice day.

A very attractive subject, fantastic light and perfect composition, I guess for years the sea destroyed this scenic pier, but your photo is a good documentation

Hello Stephen,
Great photo of this old pier. You placed it so well in the immediate foreground and it invites us further into the composition and towards the wide view of the sea. The contrast between the brown and green tones of the wood and the blue water is most attractive, especially in this warm sunlight.

Hello Stephen,
This is a nice view of the ruins of a pier. The ruins are going somewhere, into the sea but with all that sea moss on them, you couldn't go anywhere.
Happy Holidays,
MT
