Photographer's Note

This is the famous (or infamous) sculpture by the artist Maggie Hambling on Aldeburgh beach. It's a monument to the composer Benjamin Britten, who lived for the latter part of his life here, and founded the Snape Maltings concert hall.

It's a very controversial piece, since many locals hate it being situated on the beach as they think it spoils the sky-line, but I love it. It's rare to find it without children playing on it, and all the kids I spoke to said they loved it as well.
