Photographer's Note

Another picture from our Somerset trip. Lytes Cary Manor is near Somerton in Somerset. It is a grade 1 listed building parts dating from the 14th century. Eventually it fell into disrepair and was bought by Sir Walter Jenner and restored it to its original state with 17th and 18th century oak furniture. When he died in 1848 without children he left the property to the National Trust on condition that the furniture should remain as he left it.
Its strange name comes from the Lyte family, who lived here for over four centuries, and the River Cary which flows nearby.
