Photographer's Note

City of Shrewsbury is built on a hill where Severn river makes a large curve around it. As such there are many historic bridges over the river. The one towards east of the town centre is called English Bridge. It is a 1926 rebuilding and widening (re-using the original masonry) of earlier one completed in 1774. A bridge is known to have stood at this spot since at least Norman times.
